Support Your Troops - 5 Ways to Stay Healthy in the Flu Season

Posted on Nov 4th, 2009 by catalyst yogi : Catalyst Yogi catalyst yogi

The newspapers, television and internet are filled with coverage of the latest flu bug with nary a mention of our own innate ability to fend off disease.

We have a powerful cavalry of virus warriors called the immune system.

The troops of your immune system have been with you since birth and are tirelessly working to keep you healthy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are more than equipped to handle the battle. However, your immune system needs your support to work effectively.

Time to give your Immune System the  ‘shot in the arm’ it needs from you.

5 Ways to Stay Healthy During the Flu Season

1. Energy always precedes Matter. All disease impacts your aura (electromagnetic field) first. Keep your aura strong by keeping your thoughts positive and uplifting.  Indulging in fear, doubt and worry will steal three feet from your aura and that makes you more vulnerable to physical illness.

2. Practice Kundalini Yoga + Meditation – it strengthens the glandular and immune systems, among other things. Download a FREE Meditation to Strengthen the  Immune System (PDF).

(tune in with the Adi Mantra – "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo" – three times and end your session with a long sat nam)

3. Food as Medicine - Eat only  healthy foods. Give up the sugar and processed foods that only weaken the immune system. Try drinking Jalepeno Milk

4.  Monitor your Mind
– it is a powerful tool for manifestation. If you worry incessantly about getting sick – the stress will diminish your immune system and you are more likely to get sick! When worry arises –redirect your thoughts - focus on gratitude for your health in this moment.

5. “The best vitamin pill you can ever take is a full breath” – Yogi Bhajan

Pranayam (breath control) is important to keep your cells nourished with oxygen.  Here is an easy pranayam that will strengthen your immune system in less than 3 min.

Fight Viruses By Strengthening your Immune System

Posted on Oct 29th, 2009 by catalyst yogi : Catalyst Yogi catalyst yogi

We all have a natural 'kick ass' disease fighter inside us called the Immune System.

A quick, easy way you can naturally strengthen your Immune System is through a Yogic Breath called DOG BREATH.

Here is How You Do It

  • Sit up with a straight spine, chin in and chest out.

  • Stick your tongue out all the way

  • Begin panting like a dog through your mouth ( rapidly breathing in and out through your mouth)

Continue for 3 - 5 mins

To End: INHALE hold breath for 15 sec while pressing the tongue against the upper palate. EXHALE and repeat two more times.

It's going to feel 'weird' - you will feel tingling all over your body - this means that it is working!

Are you Your Worst Judge?

Posted on Oct 22nd, 2009 by catalyst yogi : Catalyst Yogi catalyst yogi

"The strength of your judgment is the only enemy you have."

- Yogi Bhajan (master of Kundalini Yoga)

Does any of this sound familiar?

I should be doing this. I should have said or done that. I should be somewhere else in my life. I should be making more money. I should be with someone else. I should be happy right now. I should have another job. I should be skinny. I should......fill in the blank.

These shoulds are judgments and have no place on the Spiritual Journey. When we are in judgment, we are not accepting ourselves and this can be very damaging to our pure essence. All shoulds only come from the mind and ego not from the pure being which is you.

This is at the root of why we judge others - we are only projecting how we feel about ourselves on to others.

5 Ways to Bring Acceptance Into Your Life Right Now.

Explore your unique should - it often means you are seeking approval from an outside source such as a parent, authority figure or your community. Start to seek approval only from your higher consciousness. This is your life - stop living someone else's dream.

2. Learn to accept yourself – warts and all. There are 7 billion humans on the planet and only one of you. It would be boring if we were all the same. ‘Be You’ is the only thing that will work in the Aquarian Age.

3. Accept everything that is going on in your life right now as perfect. Stop resisting what is – there is no good or bad – it is thinking that makes it so. This alone will free a lot of creative energy for you to manifest.

4. Start to look at yourself and the world through the light of your soul. Appreciate your uniqueness and remembering you are a spiritual being having human experiences. Begin practicing loving yourself unconditionally in every moment.

5. Practice the Kundalini Yoga Meditation to Conquer Self-Animosity (as little as 3 minutes)

Self-respect, self-value and a healthy dose of self love adds up to self- esteem. Self-esteem is a key ingredient for a Leader of the Aquarian Age.

How Can I feel good about myself ?

Start by dropping the story that your ego tells you about yourself. This story does not define who you are and who you can be.

Do this Meditation for 3 mins to Conquer Self- Animosity.

Self Esteem in 3 Minutes - Meditation

"The moment you value yourself, the whole world values you !"

Are you a *Scaredy Cat* These Days ?

Posted on Sep 23rd, 2009 by catalyst yogi : Catalyst Yogi catalyst yogi

The intensity of life seems to have amped up a few notches this month.

As a humanity, we are experiencing major challenges and old ways of coping are no longer working. These challenges can be experienced as insomnia, anxiety, accidents, not enough time, addictions, health crisis, relationship upsets or financial difficulties.

CHANGE IS NOW RAPID AND MOVING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT.

With all these changes, we may feel stress. Underneath the stress is fear. This fear is the fear of the Unknown. What's coming next? Can I handle another change in my life?

Once you understand that fear is simply an energy - a force - then can you transmute this energy for your soul's journey.

5 Ways to Transmute Fear

1. Embrace the Mystery

The ancient yogis say that only 20% is known to our conscious mind and 80% is unknown to us. This 80% is what causes a lot of our fear. Embrace that 80% unknown in every situation – trust the Divine is guiding you each and every moment. Imagine yourself as a great adventurer on planet earth – a spiritual being here to have grand adventure.

2. Pranayam

One of the ten yogic bodies is called the Pranic Body. A strong Pranic Body keeps fear at bay. Consciously breathing will strengthen your Pranic Body. Slow down your breath. Inhale ten seconds. Suspend the breath for ten seconds and exhale ten seconds.

3. Kundalini Yoga Meditation

When you feel overwhelmed by life - practice this meditation anywhere or anytime. You can do this in as little as three minutes. MEDITATION TO RELIEVE FEAR. (3 MINS)

4. Take a respite from the news

Including newspapers, television and Internet. Read inspiring and uplifting books.

5. Express Yourself

There is a misconception that we are the only ones feeling fear and everyone else has it all together. We all feel the same range of emotions. Be authentic with trusted people in your life – share some your worries and fears – you will be surprised how similar we all are.

Are you in a Spiritual Recession? What is your Spiritual Currency

Posted on Sep 1st, 2009 by catalyst yogi : Catalyst Yogi catalyst yogi

Everywhere you look these days, you hear about the recession and  the shrinking economy.  Recession is simply money not flowing – people, businesses, banks and governments are holding on to money out of fear.

As Above, So Below

We too are in a spiritual recession. What is our spiritual currency? The Breath. The ancient yogis taught us that we are born with a fixed amount of breaths. When our breaths are used up – we are up.  It will be time for us to physically die.

Before we incarnate, GOD, Universe, Divinity (whatever word you use) gives us our breaths (currency) and says “Go down to the earth plane, have fun, pay your karmas, learn a few things, and then come back home” (Infinity). You choose how you spend your currency.

Through this recession people are learning the value of their money – and realizing they don’t need the daily $4 lattes, chocolate martinis, latest gadgets  etc.

As we value our money, we need to value our breath (prana). For example, do you waste your breath with gossip, judging others or negative habits

5 Ways You Can Streamline your Spiritual Spending.

1 Don’t waste your breaths on gossip or judging others. This negativity will come back to you like an energetic boom-a-rang.

2. Take action on your intuitive messages. For example, if you are in a movie theater and within the first five minutes know that this movie is going no where – just leave and get your money back. How many times have we regretted not listening to our intuition?

3.  Start consciously breathing, inhaling for 10 seconds, holding for 10 seconds and exhaling for 10 seconds. Better yet, go to a Kundalini Yoga class where you are reminded to connect with your breath.

4. Before participating in any activity ask yourself, is this aligned with my higher consciousness?  Start to value your energy and time as precious.

5. Connect with your breath through Meditation for a Calm Heart.
